Changing the Shape can Change the Perspective

I had a request recently for a piece to hang in the lobby of Wright Kingdom Real Estate in Boulder, Colorado.  The space is unusually wide but fairly short.  I looked through hundreds of my images trying to figure out what would work and realized I would have to create a new crop of an old piece to meet the specifications.  I was surprised to learn that I often preferred the new, unusual crops over the originals.  Here are some examples from my past Crested Butte Wildflower, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Yellowstone – Tetons photography workshops:
